Overview:
Young: Equal is looking for an enthusiastic and communicative individual to fill the role of Communication Director. In this position, you will take the lead in building and maintaining relationships with local nonprofits and organizations. Your primary focus will be to promote Young: Equal events, increase attendance, and ensure that our participants have access to valuable community resources. If you are passionate about effective communication, community engagement, and supporting the LGBTQ+ community, we encourage you to apply.
Our Mission:
We are driven with the purpose to create environments that promote self-acceptance, community, and love for the LGBTQ+ community. Young: Equal works with teen & young adult members of the LGBTQ+ community through creative arts & recreation to reaffirm the importance of one’s own identity. Through creative arts, recreation, and social media, Young: Equal creates safe spaces that set the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ teens & young adults as our top priority.
Responsibilities:
Community Engagement:
Build and nurture relationships with local nonprofits and organizations to enhance collaboration opportunities.
Represent Young: Equal in community forums and events, fostering positive relationships and awareness.
Event Promotion:
Develop and implement communication strategies to promote Young: Equal events effectively.
Collaborate with marketing and programming teams to ensure cohesive messaging and promotion.
Attendance Growth:
Work to increase attendance at Young: Equal events through targeted outreach and promotional efforts.
Identify and leverage community influencers and partners to enhance event visibility.
Resource Awareness:
Research and stay informed about available resources in the community that can benefit Young: Equal participants.
Establish connections with resource providers to ensure access and support for our community.
Collaboration with Stakeholders:
Collaborate with stakeholders, community leaders, and influencers to amplify Young: Equal's presence in the community.
Attend relevant meetings and events to stay connected with local initiatives and opportunities.
Qualifications:
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Knowledge of local community resources and services.
Passion for promoting inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Experience in community outreach or similar roles is beneficial but not required.
Time Commitment:
This is a volunteer position with a flexible time commitment, adapting to the demands of community engagement and event promotion.
