Overview:
Young: Equal is seeking a dedicated and passionate individual to join our team as a Community Outreach Specialist. As an integral part of our organization, you will play a key role in raising awareness about Young: Equal within the community. This volunteer position involves coordinating our presence at various community events and actively engaging with the public to promote our mission of inclusivity and support for LGBTQ+ teens & young adults.
Our Mission:
We are driven with the purpose to create environments that promote self-acceptance, community, and love for the LGBTQ+ community. Young: Equal works with teen & young adult members of the LGBTQ+ community through creative arts & recreation to reaffirm the importance of one’s own identity. Through creative arts, recreation, and social media, Young: Equal creates safe spaces that set the wellbeing of LGBTQ+ teens & young adults as our top priority.
Responsibilities:
Event Coordination:
Organize and oversee the organization's participation in community events, ensuring a well-planned and impactful presence.
Collaborate with volunteer members to schedule and staff outreach activities.
Community Engagement:
Act as a representative of Young: Equal, fostering positive relationships within the community.
Engage with event attendees to share information about Young: Equal's mission and programs.
Awareness Building:
Develop strategies to effectively communicate Young: Equal's goals and initiatives.
Distribute promotional materials and answer inquiries to increase awareness about our organization.
Networking:
Establish and maintain connections with local community leaders, organizations, and influencers to enhance collaboration opportunities.
Data Collection:
Collect and report data on outreach activities, including attendance, engagement, and feedback.
Qualifications:
Passion for promoting inclusivity and support for the LGBTQ+ community.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong organizational and coordination abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Flexibility to attend evening or weekend events occasionally.
Time Commitment:
This is a volunteer position, and the time commitment may vary based on scheduled events. Availability for occasional evening and weekend activities is desirable.
